Score 88/100 · Drink 2006-2013, Robert Parker, Feb 2006
The 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape is surprisingly elegant in a vintage that produced relatively muscular, full wines. It displays sweet cherries intermixed with some hints of nori (the sushi wrapper) and plenty of spice and pepper in addition to some noticeable herbaceous notes. The wine is drinking well, and should continue to do so for at least 5-7 years. Importer: Alain Junguenet, Wines of France, Mountainside, NJ; tel. (908) 654-6173

Pale, rather volatile with an overall impression of simple, easy fruit, then extremely aggressive tannins. Not enough in the middle for me to feel confident recommending it at this stage. (JR)
