Score 89/100 · Drink 2014-2020, David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, Jan 2014

The Tour Vieilles 2011 Banyuls Rimage features lightly-cooked and –confitured cherry wreathed in highly-perfumed hyacinth and heliotrope on the nose as well as on a polished palate kissed by vanilla and chocolate. Decidedly sweet but satisfyingly persistent and with a welcome quotient of primary juiciness, this may well pick up further complexity from bottle, where it will at the very least prove highly satisfying through 2020. Since I last reported on Vincent Cantie and partner Christine Campadieu – for more about whom consult introductions to previous accounts of their wines in this venue– they have celebrated the 30th anniversary of their estate, and happily they show no signs of flagging in their dedication to rendering nuanced and versatile Collioure and Banyuls.
