From the sparkling wines of Limoux to the rich fortifieds of Banyuls, the vast Languedoc-Roussillon spans all colours and styles of wine. Long the vinous bread basket for Parisians, the past 25 years has dramatically improved the quality of wines as producers moved toward modern winemaking techniques and the once-revolutionary idea of varietal wine labelling.
Down in the south of France, the Languedoc-Roussillon produces a vast range of wine. Historically the wines might have been rustic but quality has been transformed, and in amongst the large volumes of good bottles, you’ll find some exceptional, fine wines that speak of the region’s true potential.
