Moderately saturated ruby-red. Wild aromas of brooding black fruits, licorice and spices; I would have picked this as Pommard from the nose. Dense with fruit but less showy today than the Clos du Roi. Fat and deep, with more sauvage notes of chocolate and leather. There's plenty of tannic mass here, but the tannins are chocolatey and not at all aggressive.
