Tasting notes
(made by Chris Peterson): Saturated bright dark ruby. Ethereal aromas of blackberry, black raspberry, bacon fat and brown spices, lifted by lavender and violet nuances. Rich, spicy and deep; wonderfully mouth-saturating dark berry and spice flavors offer lovely floral lift, a juicy quality and an impression of weightlessness. Utterly seamless wine with suave tannins and excellent subtle length.

Made by Chris Peterson (of Avennia) and the only vintage of this cuvee that will be mad, as the estate has moved all to estate bottlings, the 2013 Collaboration Series VII (96% Syrah, 2% Viognier and 2% Roussanne) offers a serious dose of chalky minerality to go with lots of pepper, blackberry, wild herbs, and licorice aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and rich, yet also elegant and light on its feet, this world-class Syrah has enough tannin to benefit from short-term cellaring and will have 12-15 years of overall longevity.
