Tasting notes
The NV Brut Rose is a big, powerful wine loaded with fruit. This is a generous, large-scaled style, although some rough edges remain. The NV Rose is 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. This is Lot LR1074013XRO136. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2014. This is a solid set of wines from Ellner. The straight NV wines are delicious, but the vintage wines aren’t quite as interesting as they should be. Importer: Massanois Imports, Washington, DC; tel. (202) 470-6769

Winemaker Arnaud Ellner. 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir. From the Charles Ellner vineyards which were founded over 100 years ago, and spread over 15 villages. Base wine 2006, disgorgement date July 2009, dosage 10 g/l . Seems a bit expensive. Pale blueish crimson. Attractive freshness on the nose and then lots of acidity. I'd be happy with this in a white wine, I don't really taste the pinkness of this wine but it's a refreshing drink – more so than the white version. (JR)
