Tasting notes
100% Chardonnay from the Côtes des Blancs. 40% reserve wines (aged in barrels). 24 months on the lees. Dosage 5 g/l. Biodynamic. Open and generously broad, complex – lemon curd on toast, almonds, peach nectar. Fruit and lees in harmony. Rich, mouth-filling complexity on the palate, with the richness swirling around a core of ripe citrus precision and focused acidity. Very fine mousse. A savoury, chalky edge on the evolving, fresh finish. (OC)

Vauversin's NV Brut Original Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru is a 100% Chardonnay based on two vintages, each 50%: The 2011 part underwent the malolactic fermentation whereas the 2012 did not. Vanilla and pear aromas on the nose migrate to a very pure, delicate and elegant, quite aromatic palate. This Brut has a fine mousse and a good complexity and length. Its finish is slightly sweet. This Champagne was disgorged in February 2015 with a dosage of 8 grams per liter.
Quite a deep gold for an NV – some age? Very fine mousse. Well balanced nose and very good quality for the price. Quite dense and mature. Dry, toasty and no hint of added sweetness. A real bargain. (JR)
