The 2017 Beaune Les Cents Vignes 1er Cru has a crisp, slightly tertiary bouquet of pressed flowers accompanying dark berry fruit, nicely defined though not powerful. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple tannins and well-judged acidity. It feels harmonious, supple and quite focused. The elegant finish is lightly peppered. Enjoy this well-crafted Beaune over the next decade.

From a parcel purchased on the dissolution of the Château de Chorey and planted with superb vine material, the 2017 Beaune 1er Cru Les Cents Vignes unfurls in the glass with a complex bouquet of cassis, spiced cherries, dark chocolate and subtle hints of smoky new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and nicely concentrated, with fine-grained but firm underlying structure and a long, nicely defined finish. To my palate, it's the finest of Rapet's Beaune premiers crus.
About the producer
Based in Pernand-Vergelesses, the Rapet family has been involved in wine since at least the 18th century. The property owns 20 hectares of vines around and on the hill of Corton. Vincent and Sylvette are at the helm today, with their son Robin now working alongside them.
