Showing beautifully today, the 2015 Gigondas offers ripe black cherries, roasted garrigue, Provençal spices, pepper, and some subtle gamey nuances. It's medium to full-bodied, has a nicely textured, balanced, layered mouthfeel, supple tannins, and outstanding length. I love its complexity, and it has another 10-15 years of prime drinking ahead of it. Drink 2025-2040.

From a 1.44-ha, high-elevation plot of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. The nose seems higher resolution than the southern Rhône standard, and it reminds me of opening my spice cupboard: not just spices but flavours like fish sauce and soy sauce. Umami ahoy! Chewy but pliant, with high acid to counter the density. (RH)
From a bit less than 1.5 hectares above 300 meters in elevation, this 70-30 blend of Grenache and Mourvèdre offers bold notes of ripe cherries and blueberries on the nose. The 2015 Gigondas is full-bodied, with supple tannins and a velvety texture. While there's not yet much complexity, it offers lovely fruit, texture and intensity. It should drink well for a decade or more, gradually developing more spice and leather along the way. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.
