Tasting notes
Dried meat, cooked fruit that runs from red to black with a developed and opulent spiciness. A true Châteauneuf-du-Pape in volume, but with an injection of freshness that suggests great natural balance. (RH)

I was blown away by the balance and elegance displayed by this micro-estate's 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape. From just over half a hectare, this is 94% Grenache, matured in a combination of concrete and older barrels. Roses, potpourri and cherries appear on the nose of this beauty, which winemaker Stéphane Vedeau describes as "very soft, elegant, feminine." It's full-bodied but airy and is lacy in texture, with a spine of orange zest that focuses and refines the whorl of spice, floral and herbal flavors. It should drink well for more than a decade.
