Tasting notes
Apple and mirabelle , strongly marked by their seeds and pit and haunted by high-toned, distilled shadows of their fresh fruit selves, set the tone for a glossy, schmaltzy, lusciously fruity midpalate. This finishes with bright, tangy juiciness of apple as well as zests of orange and lime and a lovely transparency to smoky and stony nuances.

The 2016 Ried Setzberg Riesling Smaragd opens with a bright, concentrated, beautifully pure, fresh and stony/mineral Riesling aroma intermixed with crushed stone flavors and concentrated peach aromas. Picked on the 4th of November, this is a full-bodied, concentrated and juicy but piquant, fresh and tensioned Spitzer Riesling with grip and lingering salinity. There are ripe and dried stone fruit aromas in the furred finish. Very well balanced, this is a classic Wachau Riesling from Spitz! Tasted July 2017.
