Tasting notes
Screwcap. Ripe, creamy citrus is the first impression but as it opens there's a chalky/stony layer of complexity. Lots going on here if not particularly intense on the mid palate. (JH)

The 2016 Ried Pellingen 1ÖTW Grüner Veltliner Privat, tasted as a tank sample in July 2017, has an intense citrus color and opens with a deep, ripe, dense and elegant nose with crystalline and flinty/stony scents intertwined with lemon, herbal and vegetal aromas. Full-bodied, round and fresh, with a nice purity and mineral grip on the finish, this an elegant, well-structured and persistent Pellingen whose acidity is so vibrant and vital that it could be Riesling. However, there is this sensual, elegant juiciness of Grüner Veltliner that gives the wine its charm. The 2016 might be less concentrated and rich than the 2015 but its clear and fresh fruit, purity and vibrant tension are gorgeous.
