Score 87/100 · Drink 2003-2006, Pierre Rovani, Apr 2003

The 2001 Meursault is a blend of the Limozin and Clous that Jacques Seysses would have bottled separately. Its sweet, spicy nose leads to a satin-textured, fresh character with excellent purity and length. Lemon-drenched minerals can be found in this soft, pleasing wine. Drink it over the next 2-3 years. Since Jeremy Seysses joined his father Jacques at Domaine Dujac, a number of changes have taken place, including the creation of the Dujac Fils et Pere negociant firm which produces both Cote de Beaune whites and Cote de Nuits reds. This white was formerly sold under the Maison Druid moniker, which no longer exists. Jeremy has lowered the amount of new oak (to 30%) from the 50% his father used for whites. Another change is that Jeremy will no longer indicate parcel names on his white AOC village wines. Importer: Wilson-Daniels, St. Helena, CA; tel. (707) 963-9661

Bumptious. Not fine, but no lack of impact. (JR)
