The Vosne-Romanee Les Beaux Monts reveals a fresh, clean, nose of crisp red currants and cherries and an elegant and lively mouthful of creamy, cherry pie filling and a long finish. Superb to drink now, it will age well for 8+ years. This note is the result of tastings I did in Burgundy between January 7 and January 29. The wine was tasted from cask, not bottle. Pinot Noir, a fragile varietal, reacts poorly to fining, filtration, and careless bottling techniques, I recommend caution when considering buying a red burgundy based on cask samples. Excellent red-ruby color. Complex, subtle aromas of black- and redcurrants, smoke and wild rose, plus a faintly meaty aspect. Lush and sweet in the mouth, with good density and terrific early flavor appeal. But has plenty of underlying structure for aging.
