The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Three Twins emerges from Rick Talmage's Conn Valley site, where Talmage makes his Stone the Crows Cabernet. Myriad's wine from this site is a bit more savory, with pretty notes of iron, smoke, tobacco and leather that add complexity to the succulent fruit. Racy and expressive through to the finish, the Three Twins is a classic 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon built to deliver pretty much immediate gratification.
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Three Twins Vineyard has a dense ruby/purple color, beautiful nose of crème de cassis and spring flowers in a rather classic, full-bodied, very ripe, pure and layered style. This is top-flight Napa Cabernet Sauvignon with wonderful texture and knockout aromatics; soft enough (as most 2012s are) to be drunk now or cellared for 15 or more years.
(includes 2% petit verdot; aging in 80% new oak, mostly Darnajou and Taransaud barrels): Dark red-ruby. Aromas of plum syrup, cassis and bitter chocolate. Supple, dense and spicy, offering an attractive balance of restrained sweetness and verve to the flavors of blackberry, licorice and spices. Good thickness without heaviness here. Finishes with ripe, building tannins. Winemaker Mike Smith did a lot of bleeding of the tanks in 2012 to concentrate the musts.
