Score 92/100 · Drink 2010-2021, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Mar 2017

Fully mature, yet with plenty of life left, the 2006 Crozes Hermitage le Clos offers loads of toasted spices, cured meats, licorice and black currant-like aromas and flavors. Mouth filling, medium to full-bodied, layered and rich, it's drinking beautifully today. This cuvee consistently ranks up with the top wines of the appellation.

Deep ruby. Far more expressive and fresh today than it showed last year, offering powerful kirsch and cassis aromas, along with bacon fat and floral qualities. Deep and chewy, with ripe dark fruit flavors and dusty tannins. A serious wine in need of patience.

Inky ruby. Dark cherry and olive scents are deep but brooding, picking up musky tobacco and herbs with air. Fresher on the palate, offering sweet dark fruit preserve flavors and chewy texture. A broad, powerful style, with serious finishing grip. Is this just in a surly mood today?
