Score 84/100 · Drink 2021-2024, Neal Martin, Oct 2021

The 2019 Chablis Fourchaume 1er Cru has a terse, stony nose, a bit of SO2 masking the terroir expression; this is a bit ham-fisted compared to others. The palate is bitter on the entry, and muffled and lacking depth on the finish.

The 2019 Chablis Fourchaume 1er Cru offers attractive scents of honeysuckle, lemon thyme and crushed stone on the nose, certainly showing better than the previous vintage. The palate is well balanced with a lightly honeyed entry, moderate acidity, a slightly waxy texture and clean, pure clementine and red apple notes toward the cohesive finish. This is one of Vrignaud’s more promising 2019s.
