Tasting notes
Good red-ruby color. High-pitched, complex nose offers aromas of crushed berries, pepper and underbrush, with a whiff of fresh tobacco. Sweet, fleshy and dense, with concentrated flavors of cassis, blackberry and bitter chocolate. Slightly reduced today but this is fine-grained and impressively long, with nothing hard about the tannins. Very strong juice, and built to age.

Produced from a vineyard located below the Clos de Tart and the northern extremity of Bonnes Mares, the 2003 Morey-St.-Denis Les Ruchots bursts forth with aromas of violets and cassis. A backward, concentrated wine of impressive power, it sports a deep, medium-bodied personality jam-packed with red cherries. This effort’s persistent finish reveals copious tannin that demand cellaring. Projected maturity: 2009-2015. Importer: David Hinkle / Peter Vezan, North Berkeley Imports, Berkeley, CA; tel. Ruby-red. Wild black fruits and spices on the nose, with a whiff of game. Sweet, supple and easygoing, with enticing fruit and spice character. Finishes with smooth tannins and very good length.
