An elegant example of Napa Valley Cabernet is the 2014 Three Twins Vineyard, which comes from a site in Conn Valley and is a tiny production release. Offering a nuanced style in its crème de cassis, dried flowers, lead pencil and graphite aromatics, it’s ethereally textured, light on its feel and impeccably balanced, with medium to full-bodied depth and richness. It’s already impossible to resist, and shows the vintage style, yet I suspect it’s going to evolve gracefully on its balance and purity.

The least expensive Cabernet Sauvignon is the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Three Twins Vineyard, from a site located in Conn Valley not far from Seavey Vineyard. This is a small production cuvée of only 100 cases. The wine shows dusty/loamy soil notes, underbrush, nice blackcurrant and black cherry fruit and a touch of Asian plum. It is ripe, heady, medium to full-bodied and ideal for drinking over the next 12-15 years.
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Three Twins is a textbook example of 337 Clone Cabernet. Super-ripe red berry, cinnamon and sweet floral notes give the wine much of its racy, extroverted personality. The 2014 is sweet, perfumed and silky. It will appeal most to readers who enjoy flamboyant, opulent Cabernets. Best of all, the 2014 can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring. This is an especially ripe style, but it works nicely.
