Tasting notes
This 2023 Minervois La Ciaude embodies the classic beauty of Minervois. Offerng notes of incense and fine tobacco, a touch of pine, black tea and caramel, it is harmoniously signed by its 14 months of barrel ageing, while retaining its fruit, including black cherry, blueberry, blackberry, licorice and bergamot. Intense, dense, with silky tannins and a sapid finish, its mentholated, saline character makes it easy to enjoy, and it has the confident, accessible elegance of the South that I love. Drink 2025-2035. Anne Gros and Jean-Paul Tollot, two Burgundy winemakers with 30 years of experience, have combined their expertise in the beautiful terroirs of Cazelles in Minervois. They cultivate 18 hectares of vineyards, producing 10 wines, many of which are single-varietal and single-vineyard, applying Burgundian methods in the heart of Languedoc. This does not prevent them from also producing great blends based on the region's signature grape varieties. These wines are classic beauties from the south and should not be missed.

About the producer

Anne Gros is better known for her estate in Vosne-Romanée, as is her partner Jean-Paul Tollot for his family’s Domaine Tollot-Beaut in Chorey-lès-Beaune. Beyond Burgundy, however, the duo makes some impressive wine in Cazelles in the Minervois, working with higher-altitude vineyards.
