Tasting notes
The grapes for the 2023 Pinot Noir En Billat, from a vineyard in the village of Grusse on marl and schist soils at 415 meters above sea level, were picked one week after the Trousseau, the second week of September at a moderate 11% alcohol. The bottled wine shows much better than the sample I tasted last year. It is all blood orange, with fine tannins, fine-boned and still with a little bit of gas. It was bottled in August 2024.

Coming in at a mere 11% alcohol, the 2023 Côtes du Jura Pinot Noir En Billat unwinds with ripe red cherry, red plum and earthy tones of moderate intensity. Light-bodied and ultra-tender, the silky-textured 2023 touches the palate with decent flavor concentration and checks out with lifting freshness on the clipped finish.
