Another wine that's still an infant is the 2010 Ventoux la Quintessence, which sports a deep purple color, with only a hint of ruby at the rim. Possessing full-bodied richness, impressive concentration and fabulous tannin quality (which is a step up over more recent vintages), this rock star from Ventoux gives up loads of cassis, licorice, graphite and smoked meats. Given its purity, structure and still youthful character, this impressive Syrah will see its 20th birthday in fine form.
