2019 Riesling Setzberg Smaragd

The 2019 Ried Setzberg Riesling Smaragd opens pure and untamed on the nose, as if there was a reduction. The nose is completely closed straight after uncorking and doesn't tell a lot except of macerated grapes that haven’t been de-stemmed but crushed. Quite hard on the palate, with a certain roundness but no inner generosity, this is a rather thrifty Riesling that needs a lot of patience and possibly another tasting. 13% alcohol. Tasted at the domain in June 2021.
