Tasting notes
The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chenevottes 1er Cru has another lively nose. This takes a few moments to settle in the glass, revealing chalky aromas, a little earthier than the domaine’s other cuvées. The palate is well balanced with a very subtle reduction that works to its favour. Quite saline in the mouth, edgy with a citric and blood orange tinged, slightly bitter finish. This is a well-crafted, energetic Les Chenevottes that should age with style.

Noticeable struck-match reductive aroma but not OTT – unless of course you don't like that style. Plus a creamy/mealy oak-derived richness entwined with tangy, ripe citrus fruit. That same combination on the palate, with a toasty richness shot through by fresh citrus. Not terribly long but lots of upfront pleasure. Perhaps just slightly hard on the finish. (JH)
