Tasting notes
2017 was a warm year marked by killer frost, the first in the series of recent years affected by frost, but despite all the challenges, the Vin jaune from this vintage is very good. The 2017 Les Bruyères Vin Jaune, from a terroir of Trias clay and marl, has the classical Arbois style of Jaune—open and large—with 15.5% alcohol and a very smoky personality, a little in the style of En Spois.

Checking in at 15.5% alcohol, the 2017 Arbois Vin Jaune Les Bruyères is pure elegance in the glass. Prominent walnuts, chamomile, cereal and mild spice define the full-bodied 2017, an intense Vin Jaune that gets straight to the point. It closes with remarkable length on the complex finish. Tasted twice with consistent notes, the 2017 outperforms the 2016 I tasted last year.
