Score 88-90/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jan 2018
(Laurent has half as much of this wine as normal): Bright ruby-red; not as saturated as most of these 2016s. Explosive aromas of black cherry, spices and licorice pastille. Fine-grained if a bit youthfully tight, offering flavors of dark raspberry, blueberry, licorice and minerals and an impression of firm acidity. Finishes firmly tannic and a bit clenched but with very good length. This wine was vinified entirely with whole clusters as the grower does not own a destemmer, according to Jean Laurent.
