The signature cuvee of the house, the Champagne Rare Collection Blanc De Blancs always comes from Cramant, Avize, Le Mesnil sur Oger, and Oger, but plots can vary from year to year. Boasting a straw yellow color, the 2013 Champagne Rare Collection Blanc De Blancs takes a dramatic step up for the range in terms of complexity on the nose, with a more layered and complete profile, and it’s floral and seductive with notes of shortbread, lemon curd, and candied apples. The palate is medium-framed but offers good concentration and depth, with a delicately pithy structure and a light, brothy saline touch on the long and salty finish, but it’s all very fresh in style. A very appealing wine, it has the ability to age over the coming 15 or more years. 5 grams per liter dosage and disgorged April 2023. 9600 bottles and 1200 magnums were produced. This is my first time tasting the Champagne of Barons De Rothschild. They work with 85 hectares, mainly in Montagne de Reims and in the Côte de Blancs.

This 2013 Rare Collection Blanc de Blancs is crafted with grapes sourced from four villages: Avize, Cramant, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Disgorged as an extra brut with five grams of dosage, it reveals a delicate, complex bouquet with aromas of apricot, fresh bread, pastry, almonds, smoke and dried apricot. Medium to full-bodied, it's fleshy and vinous, with a broad attack that segues into a deep core of fruit. It concludes with a chalky, mineral finish.

I have watched the quality of this Champagne rise over the past decade, and here at 10 years old, it is showing great clarity and freshness, and still feels like it has more youth and life ahead of it. Great quality, persistant mousse, full of joy, with a clear focus on citrus, pear, lime blossom, brioche and grilled almonds. A pleasure to share, a name to discover in Champagne if you have not done so already. 5g/l dosage (Extra Brut), Guillaume Lété winemaker, Frédéric Mairesse director. 85ha of vineyards.

Classic blanc de blancs, lime and butter with preserved lemon aromas. Intense and persistent on the palate with yeast, bread, and nutty, toasty flavours. Fine mousse and pointed acidity. This wine is full of energy.
