Score 95/100 · Drink 2021-2030, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Apr 2021

The 2013 Arbois Vin Jaune Bruyères comes from a plot with clay-rich soils from the Trias period. It matured in a combination of a dry and warm cellar (60% of the volume) and a cooler and more humid cellar. It's quite classical, rich even in a more challenging year, with a combination of nutty and spicy aromas, quite fresh and aromatic, not as complex or elegant as the Château Chalon and definitely less oxidative than the Vin Jaune with a longer élevage that I tasted next to it. It has a chalky texture, and it's balanced and long with a bitter and salty twist in the finish.
