Score 88/100 · Drink 1986-2002, Robert Parker, Jan 1997
Very dark in color, the 1979 has the wild, game-like, smoky character I associate with Mourvedre and Syrah. Very full-bodied, rich, and powerful on the palate, the 1979 is just beginning to show some signs of reaching maturity. It has thrown a great deal of sediment. Anticipated maturity: now-2002. Last tasted 6/86.
