Score 86-88/100 · Drink 2026-2034, Neal Martin, Nov 2024

The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot 1er Cru (Rouge)—due to be bottled in November after aging in 50% new oak—offers redcurrant and blackberry scents on the nose, and is slightly more floral than the Chassagne Village reds. The palate carries that veneer of new oak and I worry a little that it is disproportionately large compared to the fruit concentration. I err on the side of caution.
