The 2023 Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru continues this cuvée's progression toward greater sensuality and expressiveness. Bursting from the glass with aromas of dark berries and plums mingled with potpourri and spices, it's full-bodied, suave and multidimensional, with a layered, creamy core of fruit, polished tannins and a long, perfumed finish. In the past, the Mazoyères could be something of an inky monster; but today, while it's deeper-pitched than the Charmes, it feels as if it has more to say and less to prove.
