Unwinding in the glass with a gently reductive bouquet of citrus zest, wet stones, white flowers and toasted hazelnuts, the 2023 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru is medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with a layered mid-palate and a seamless, ethereal profile.

The 2023 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru, which had just been racked into foudres , has a wonderful bouquet that exudes mineralité : crushed limestone and flint, all intertwined with yellow plum and light beeswax scents. The palate is beautifully balanced, fresh and saline, with a fine bead of acidity and real weight and persistency toward the finish. This is on par with the previous vintage—an excellent Chevalier-Montrachet.
Pale lemon colour. A light but pleasing fragrance on the nose, a suggestion of greater depth of fruit, then the pure limestone white fruit on the plate. Quite a stylish Chevalier, with the quality showing in individual waves of fruit which return when you would expect it to have finished. It has just been racked to foudre which may have dumbed down the attack.
