Tasting notes
Super Viognier styling with apricot in abundance and lots of sweet, candied complexity. It's definitely worthy of the baby-Condrieu nickname. (RH)

Looking first at the 2021 Viognier Le Pied De Samson, which comes from the upper plateau around the winery, it has a pretty, medium-bodied, fresher yet still textured style as well as textbook Condrieu-like aromatics of white peach, honeyed grapefruit, and salty, mineral nuances. Drink this balanced, elegant Viognier over the coming year or three.
About the producer

A legendary name, Domaine Georges Vernay crafts some of the finest whites in the world, having championed Condrieu when it was on the brink of extinction. The estate is best known for its single-site Coteau de Vernon Condrieu and is now in the hands of the third and fourth generation of the family.
