Tasting notes
The 2012 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs marries the energy of Chardonnay with the radiant style of the year. The result is an effusive, richly-textured Blanc de Blancs that can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring. Lemon confit, almond, pear, white flowers and pastry build effortlessly in the glass. Disgorged: April, 2019.

Bruno Paillard was one of the first champagne producers to share information with consumers. We are told this is all from the first pressing of Grand Cru Le Mesnil and Oger Chardonnay. Aged on lees for seven years. Disgorged April 2019. Dosage just 3 g/l. Pretty full-on mousse! Tight-knit, sophisticated wine with a tight bead. It's a lot more soignée than the Pascal Doquet Arpège tasted immediately beforehand but I'm not sure it's such good value. Very bright fruit and at the start of its – probably quite long – life. (JR)
The 2012 Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru is a beautiful, expressive wine that captures the natural richness and radiance so typical of the year. Tropical accents, lemon confit and white flowers all meld together. On the palate, the 2012 is quite resonant, and yet it remains translucent and light on its feet. There is so much to admire in this racy Blanc de Blancs from Bruno Paillard. Disgorged: April, 2019.
