Score 93/100 · Drink 2026-2040, Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous, Feb 2026

The 2023 Chardonnay Ried Jungenberg is grown on schist. The fruit was whole-bunch pressed, fermented in concrete and matured in large wood. Hazelnut and toasted sunflower seeds mingle with a sheen of lemon and yeast. The palate is smooth and taut, offering the gentlest creaminess and a texture that is stony like schist, with absolute lemon luminosity and juiciness. (Bone-dry)
