Score 16.5/20 · Drink 2003-2008, Jancis Robinson MW, Jun 2002

This wine from a property hugely admired by the French wine press and run by talented ex-journalist and publisher Chantal Lecouty is dominated by the sweetness of Grenache. It's concentrated, scented, gentle and definitely speaks of terroir with a strawberry-ripe nose on the finish. It is relatively soft and would need careful matching with food. I have marked it down because I find it very slightly sickly. (JR)

Medium red. Musky, slightly reduced aromas of meaty syrah, pepper and garrigue herbs. Chewy and supple, with good texture and a saline quality. But its appeal today is limited by a foxy, herbaceous quality and a slight sourness to the acids. Finishes with decent length and ripe but slightly tough tannins. Needs time in bottle.
