A blend of 80% Grenache Noir, 10% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault, the 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape Clos de l'Oratoire des Papes reveals a slightly spicy bouquet of licorice, herbs, thyme, garrigue and dark cherries. Medium-bodied, round and sappy, it's supple with a fruity core, concluding with a gourmand, mouthwatering finish. Matured in a combination of stainless steel and tanks, this is a straightforward Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
25% each of Grenache Blanc, Bourboulenc, Roussanne and Clairette. Vinified and aged for six months in new oak barrels (20%) and concrete tanks (80%). Tasted blind. Mealy notes on the honeyed nose. Lots of acidity gives freshness and vibrancy. Delicate apricot, as well as jasmine, on the long, waxy finish. Attractive. (AC)
Pretty red fruits, spring flowers, sappy, garrigue, and subtle peppery notes all emerge from the 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape, a charming, medium-bodied, forward, pleasure-bent Châteauneuf du Pape that will shine right out of the gate.
