Score 88/100 · Drink 2024-2029, Jeb Dunnuck, Jul 2024

The 2021 Lirac Clos de Sixte shows the more focused, mid-weight style of the vintage, yet brings attractive notes of red and black cherry along with some background peppery herbs, medium body, and a good finish. Based on 50% Grenache, 35% Syrah, and 15% Mourvèdre, drink this complex, satisfying Lirac over the coming 4-5 years.

50% Grenache, 35% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre. Matured for 14 months in concrete tanks (70%) and French oak barrels (30%). Cask/tank sample. Tasted blind. A juicy and inviting nose, rich dark fruits, gamey notes and crushed blackberries. Attractive savoury notes with kirsch, leather, prune and plum. Rounded tannins and a soft mid palate, slight creaminess – nice pure dark fruit with good energy throughout. (AC)
