Tasting notes
Full bottle 1,369 g. Five different Chardonnay clones from a small pocket within a single vineyard where the soils are clay with seams of quartz. Hand-harvested, 50% spontaneous fermentation in 70% second-fill and 30% new French oak barrels. Left on the lees for a further 10 months while undergoing malolactic conversion. Bottled without fining or filtration. Elegantly oaked Chardonnay in which the oak brings a complex mealy quality and just a touch of oak spice to the ripe yet deliciously fresh citrus and melon fruit, and an extremely light touch of struck match. At a perfect moment in its evolution if you want to focus on the fruit but it should age gracefully. Long, textured, mouth-watering finish. (JH)

Full bottle 1,362 g. From a single plot apparently. Very refreshing, racy Chardonnay nose. Very accessible already with an attractively saline note on the finish and some lime fruit. Crystal-clear and less complex than the Reserve. (JR)
The 2020 Chardonnay Art of Chardonnay is clearly the most mineral-driven from Creation this vintage, with crushed stone and petrichor scents filtering through the citrus fruit. The well-balanced palate offers a fine bead of acidity, a little more weight than the Reserve Chardonnay, and a saline finish that beckons you back for another sip. Superb.
