Score 87-89/100 · Drink 2022-2031, Neal Martin, Jan 2020

The 2018 Beaune Clos des Couchereaux 1er Cru has a very high-toned bouquet that has a touch of VA. The palate is rich and sinewy and quite weighty in the mouth, although I find that Jadot’s other 2018 Beaunes demonstrate a little more precision on the finish.

Jadot's 2018 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Couchereaux (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot) soars from the glass with a generous bouquet of ripe cherries, fruit compote and licorice, framed by a deft application of creamy new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, succulent and nicely defined, with appealing purity of fruit and a long, well-defined finish.
