Tasting notes
Pure and airy, though missing the complexity of its peers, the 2019 Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées 1er Cru has a tinned fruit-scented nose with raspberry and strawberry. The palate is medium-bodied, with a light chassis compared to others, a fine silver bead of acidity, savory red fruit laced with brown spices and a bit of gritty dark chocolate on the finish. It's a Premier Cru that, at the moment, is undecided about what it wants to grow up to be. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2019 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées is lovely, wafting from the glass with aromas of plums and raspberries mingled with blood orange, sweet spices, raw cocoa and vine smoke. Medium to full-bodied, deep and enveloping, it's sumptuous and charming, with an ample core of lively, concentrated fruit, beautifully refined tannins and a long, perfumed finish.
