Tasting notes
The 2020 Mazoyères-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru lacks a little delineation on the nose, showing raspberry and crushed strawberry, bergamot and light tea leaf scents. It's just a little smudged and Grenache-like. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, lower acidity, and slightly drier in style. It is missing some finesse on the finish. This is another perplexing showing from the Domaine that showed so well from barrel. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Mazoyères-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru takes time to step up through the gears on the nose, eventually revealing very airy and pure red cherry, strawberry and bergamot scents, hints of damp earth/autumn leaves. The palate is medium-bodied with a little sappiness on the entry. This has a little more weight than the Chapelle-Chambertin with a spicier/black pepper tinged finish. Great persistence again, this is one for the cellar.
