Tasting notes
The 2020 Languedoc Tête de Bélier, a blend of 70% Syrah, 20% Grenache, 8% Mourvèdre and the rest Carignan, reveals a smoky, oaky bouquet with aromas of plum, tobacco, oak, spices, vanilla, chocolate and dark berries. Massive and rich, the wine on the palate is powerful and concentrated but lacking elegance. The oak is a little prominent at the moment.

Another red still in barrel, the 2020 Languedoc Tête De Bélier is 60% Syrah, 20% Grenache, and the rest Mourvèdre and other permitted varieties, brought up in new barrels. It has a great nose of ripe blackberries, toasty oak, cured meats, and ground pepper. This carries to a full-bodied red with terrific balance, a deep, layered mouthfeel, building tannins, and a great finish. This is a rich, concentrated Syrah that still stays balanced and light on its feet.
