Tasting notes
I was happy to have the opportunity to taste Domaine Bachelet-Ramonet's 1996 Bienvenue-Batard-Montrachet. It reveals fresh and lively aromas of dried honey and marzipan, as well as a wonderfully opulent character. This medium-to-full-bodied, bright, and velvety wine gorgeously reflects its vintage's combination of ripeness and high levels of natural acidity. Lemons, crisp pears, nuts, vanilla beans, anise, and white chocolate are found in its flavor profile and throughout its long finish. Projected maturity: 2001-2007. Other 1997s tasted: Chassagne-Montrachet (84), Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets (86), Chassagne-Montrachet Les Grandes Ruchottes (86), Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot (86), Chassagne-Montrachet La Romanee (86). A Patrick Lesec Selection (Paris Fax # 011-33-1-44-70-62-93), various American importers.
