2020 Rollan de By (Medoc) Cru Bourgeois

I thought the 2020 Château Rollan De By was outstanding, and it's a medium-bodied, balanced, elegant Medoc that has plenty of classic darker, currant-like fruits, some iron, tobacco, and earthy, floral notes, fine tannins, and a good finish. It's going to drink nicely for a good decade, possibly longer.

The 2020 Rollan de By retains a somewhat "airy" bouquet, blackberry and bilberry, just missing a bit of presence. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, firm tannins, quite saline with just a touch of bitterness on the finish. Could do with more length, but it's a solid showing.

The 2020 Rollan de By is an attractive, easygoing wine to drink now and over the next decade or so. Blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, licorice and dried herbs are nicely laced together in this mid-weight, flavorful Médoc.
