Score 96/100 · Drink 2026-2040, Jeb Dunnuck, Jan 2026

A ripe, perfumed Chateauneuf that has tons of ripe plums, black raspberries, blood orange, incense, and peppery garrigue notes on the nose, the 2022 Chateauneuf Du Pape Lieu-Dit Pignan is full-bodied and has a ripe, exotic, expansive mouthfeel with ample power, yet a weightless style that's so classic to this lieu-dit. Drink bottles over the coming 15 years. Drink 2026-2040.

Black raspberries, wild strawberries, spice, and hints of garrigue define the 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Pignan, a stunning, classic effort from this great site of sandier soils in the heart of the appellation. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it reveals ultra-fine tannins and beautiful balance, with a pure, seamless texture that carries through to a gorgeous finish. This floral, exotic, seamless, Rayas-like beauty is best enjoyed over the coming 10-15 years. Drink 2025-2040.
