Score 87/100 · Drink 2023-2027, Anthony Mueller, Wine Advocate, Jul 2023

Composed of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 GVB Red offers an oaky and softly nutty nose, with the fruit condition in decline, offering soft aromas of dried cherries, blackberry juice and prunes. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is still firm with gripping tannins, with sappy oak and stewed fruit tones expressing. I suspect this red blend is showing subdued currently, from being in its cocoon stage, and hopefully, it will emerge with balanced tertiary tones. We'll see... The wine spent 18 months in 60% new French oak. 14,071 bottles were produced.

The 2015 GVB Red, which comes from estate grown fruit, is aged for 17 months in 40% new oak. This is bright and delineated on the nose with blackberry, raspberry, liquorice and light graphite aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, fine depth, focused and taut with fine salinity on the finish. This should drink well over the next decade.
