Score 91/100 · Drink 2027-2045, Neal Martin, Oct 2025

The 2021 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has a lot of reduction and oak on the nose, rendering it rather generic. The palate is predictably quite toasty and reductive, though there is a lot of wine behind it. The question is whether it will soak that up with bottle age. It just feels more winemaking than terroir at the moment and that's not what you want from a Chevalier-Montrachet, is it? Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
