The 2016 Deconstructed Lake District Bokkeveld Shales CY95 (let’s call it "Lake District") was matured in 50% new French oak for 11 months. Slightly lighter in color than the CY548, it has a quite stunning - dare I say, almost Coche-Dury-like - bouquet with perhaps the finest mineralité that I have encountered in the Cape. The palate is supremely well balanced, offering wonderful depth, veins of orange pith and white peach, a hint of lemon peel and an intensity on the finish that would show up many a white Burgundy. This is an outstanding Chardonnay from Richard Kershaw.
