From the Premiere Cru of Villers-Allerand, the 2017 Champagne Le Clos Des Trois Clochers Brut Zero displays a deeper straw/yellow color and is all Chardonnay, vinified and aged in oak, with 1 gram per liter of dosage. It opens with a ripe, floral perfume of jasmine, lemon custard, toasted oak spice, and fresh white peach. Full-bodied, it has a ripe structure with a bit of grip, a pillowy mousse, and a wonderful rounded and creamy texture. It’s long and persistent though the finish, with a bit of warmth, and continues to expand. Drink 2024-2044. Disgorged February 2023.

The 2017 Brut Zéro Le Clos des Trois Clochers was picked from a single parcel of Chardonnay vines in Villers Allerand. The base wines spent nine months in oak. The nose opens with mossy, creamy notes of confit lemon alongside lemony, buttery raw short crust pastry. The brisk mousse disperses rich notes of melted butter and a miso-like saltiness. Freshness counters this and allows impressions of chalk. Ripe, mellow apple emerges with more temperature and the finish, marked by mossiness and salty miso is a little diffuse. Rather gastronomic.
